President Joe Biden to Honor 12 Artists and Groups with 2021 National Medal of Arts and National Humanities Medals at White House Ceremony

President Joe Biden will honor 12 artists and groups with the 2021 National Medal of Arts and National Humanities Medals at a White House ceremony on Tuesday. The National Medal of Arts is the highest American award given to artists, art patrons, and groups that have advanced arts in the United States.

Legendary performer Bruce Springsteen, who has sold around 140 million albums, will be among the recipients. Springsteen has won multiple Grammys and Golden Globes, plus an Academy Award and a special Tony Award. He will add to his collection of accolades on Tuesday when President Biden honors “the Boss” with the 2021 National Medal of Arts.

Other recipients include “Feliz Navidad” songwriter and singer Jose Feliciano, fashion designer Vera Wang, philanthropist Fred Eychaner, and cultural grant maker Joan Shigekawa, as well as artists Judith Francisca Baca and Antonio Martorell. Actress and producer Mindy Kaling, singer Gladys Knight, and actor and comedian Julia Louis-Dreyfus will also be honored.

The National Medal of Arts is the highest American award given to artists, art patrons, and groups that have advanced arts in the United States. It is the nation’s highest award for advancing the arts in America.

The White House has not yet released the list of all the recipients, but the ceremony will take place on Tuesday. It will be the first time since President Biden took office that he has awarded the National Humanities Medals and the National Medal of Arts.
