The incident occurred near the city of Nablus, where the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said shots were fired toward a military post near Jit, west of Nablus. The Al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigade, an armed offshoot of Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas’ Fatah party, claimed the men killed as members. The incident is the latest in a year-long wave of violence in the region.
The IDF said it is continuing to investigate the incident and will take “all necessary measures to ensure the security of the region.” The Palestinian Authority has yet to comment on the incident.
