Yeti, a popular high-end cooler company, has issued a recall of 1.9 million soft cooler bags and gear cases due to a potential risk of serious injury or death. The recall was announced Thursday by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC).
The recalled products include the Hopper M20 Backpack, two iterations of the Hopper M30 tote-style cooler, and the SideKick Dry gear case. The CPSC said the closures on the recalled products can fail, resulting in detached magnets, which can cause perforations, twisting and blockage of the intestines if ingested.
The recalled products were sold at retailers including Dick’s Sporting Goods, ACE Hardware and Amazon.com from March 2019 through August 2020. Consumers are urged to immediately stop using the recalled products and contact Yeti for refund information.
The CPSC said the magnets can cause serious injury or death if swallowed. It is important to keep these products away from children and to seek medical attention immediately if a magnet is swallowed.
Yeti is committed to the safety of its customers and is offering a full refund for the recalled products. Consumers should contact Yeti at 833-938-4983 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. CT Monday through Friday or online at www.yeti.com and click on “Recall Information” for more information.
