Actor Ben Savage, best known for his role as Corey Matthews in the ’90s sitcom “Boy Meets World,” announced this week that he is running for Congress in California’s 30th District.
Savage, a Democrat, is running for the seat currently held by Rep. Adam Schiff, who announced his plans to run for outgoing Sen. Dianne Feinstein’s Senate seat in January.
In an Instagram post Monday, Savage said he is running for Congress to “restore faith in government by offering reasonable, innovative and compassionate solutions to our country’s most pressing issues.”
“I am a proud Californian, union member and longtime resident of District 30 who comes from a family of unwavering service to our country and community,” Savage said.
Savage is the latest celebrity to enter the political arena, joining the likes of actors Cynthia Nixon and Stacey Abrams, who both ran for office in 2018.
