According to an FBI affidavit, Jack Eugene Carpenter III, who allegedly tweeted under the handle @tempered_reason, made threats on Twitter on Feb. 17. The threats included “carrying out the punishment of death to anyone that is jewish in the Michigan govt if they don’t leave, or confess.”
Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel said on Twitter Thursday that she was told that she was one of the targets of the “heavily armed” suspect.
The criminal complaint was unsealed in federal court on Wednesday. Carpenter has been charged with using interstate communications to make a threat of injury or death.
