White House Condemns Rep. Comer for “Incredibly Ugly and Inappropriate” Remarks on Hunter Biden Investigation

On Monday, the White House condemned Rep. James Comer (R-Ky.) for his “incredibly ugly and inappropriate” remarks on the right-wing podcast “The Great America Show with Lou Dobbs.” During the episode, Comer criticized U.S. Attorney David Weiss, who is currently overseeing the federal probe into Hunter Biden, for not indicting Beau Biden during a probe into illegal contributions to his father’s campaign over a decade ago.

The reference seemed to be a 2012 investigation into Christopher Tigani, a Biden donor who “illegally contributed $72,700 to [Biden’s presidential] campaign in 2007,” and reimbursed his employees for donations made in their name. Comer appeared to suggest that Weiss had not indicted either of the Biden sons or Joe Biden himself, leading to the White House’s condemnation.

Weiss was appointed to his position by the Trump administration in 2017. He is currently leading the investigation into Hunter Biden’s taxes, which was opened in 2018. It is unclear if Weiss will pursue any charges against Hunter Biden or any other members of the Biden family.

The Biden campaign has not commented on Comer’s remarks, but the White House has made it clear that they do not condone Comer’s comments. White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki said, “We don’t think it’s appropriate to make those kinds of comments about the president’s son, who is no longer with us.”

The investigation into Hunter Biden’s taxes is ongoing, and it remains to be seen if any charges will be brought against him or any other members of the Biden family. In the meantime, the White House has made it clear that they do not condone Comer’s comments.
