Rapper Kodak Black has been issued an arrest warrant in Florida after failing to appear for a drug test and testing positive for fentanyl.
According to court records, the warrant was issued by Judge Barbara Duffy on Thursday after Kodak Black, whose real name is Bill Kapri, failed to appear for a scheduled drug test in early February and then submitted a sample that tested positive for fentanyl. The warrant was requested by the Broward County Sheriff’s Office.
Kodak Black was on pretrial release for an oxycodone trafficking charge from July. In January 2020, then-President Donald Trump commuted a three-year federal prison sentence the rapper had for falsifying documents used to buy weapons.
Kodak Black has been in the music industry since 2015 and has released several albums, including his most recent, “Bill Israel”, in November 2020. He has also collaborated with other artists, including Travis Scott, Lil Wayne, and Drake.
The rapper’s legal troubles have been ongoing for years. In 2019, he was sentenced to 46 months in prison for falsifying documents to buy firearms. He was released in August 2020 after serving about half his sentence.
Kodak Black is currently being held without bond and is awaiting a hearing. It is unclear what the outcome of the hearing will be.
