At a news conference, New Orleans Police Department Chief Deputy Superintendent Hans Ganthier said that two weapons were found on scene and that a suspect was apprehended. “We were quickly able to apprehend the suspect we believe responsible for this,” Ganthier said.

The victims included a young girl, a woman, and three men, all of whom were transported to a hospital. WWL-TV reports that one of the men was later pronounced dead. The other four victims are in stable condition.

Ganthier expressed his sadness about the incident. “This is really not something we wanted to see,” he said.

The investigation is ongoing and no further details have been released at this time.
