Donald Trump’s lawyers have filed a motion in court to block testimony from previous accusers and to ban the infamous 2005 “Access Hollywood” tape in the sexual battery lawsuit filed against him by writer E. Jean Carroll.

The motion was filed late Thursday in the U.S. District Court in Manhattan before Judge Lewis Kaplan. Trump’s attorneys argued that the contents of the tape, which features Trump speaking to Billy Bush, an anchor for “Access Hollywood” at the time, do not relate to the core of Carroll’s claim that Trump raped her in the changing room of a Manhattan department store in the mid-1990s and then lied about his actions.

The tape, which was publicly released in 2016 shortly before Trump won the presidential election, features Trump boasting that he liked to “grab” women by the “pussy” and that he could get away with it because he was “a star.”

Carroll filed her lawsuit in November 2019, claiming that Trump had defamed her by denying her allegations and accusing her of lying. Trump’s lawyers have argued that the lawsuit should be dismissed because the former president’s comments were protected by the First Amendment.

The motion filed Thursday is the latest development in the ongoing legal battle between Carroll and Trump. Judge Kaplan has yet to rule on the motion.
