The Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) has arrested a suspect in connection with two separate shootings of Jewish men in the city’s western Pico-Robertson neighborhood earlier this week. The attacks are being investigated as potential hate crimes.

The first shooting occurred Wednesday just before 10 a.m. on Shenandoah Street and the second occurred around 8:30 a.m. Thursday on South Bedford Street. Both men were assaulted after leaving a synagogue, according to The Anti-Defamation League of Southern California, and the shootings happened less than a mile apart.

In response to the attacks, LAPD launched an “exhaustive” search for the suspect. Mayor Karen Bass released a statement condemning the attacks, saying, “These attacks against members of our Jewish community in the Pico-Robertson neighborhood are absolutely unacceptable.”

The suspect has been taken into custody and is currently being held at the Los Angeles County Jail. The investigation is ongoing and no further information has been released at this time.

The LAPD is asking anyone with information about the shootings to contact the department at (213) 486-6890. The Anti-Defamation League of Southern California is also offering a reward of up to $5,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for the attacks.
