Three Michigan State University students were killed in a mass shooting on campus Monday night, university police said Tuesday.

Verner, a 2020 graduate of Clawson High School, was described by Clawson Public Schools Superintendent Billy Shellenbarger as “a tremendous student, athlete, leader” and person who “exemplified kindness every day of her life.” A family friend said Verner was kind, positive and “everything you’d want your daughter or friend to be.”
Brian Fraser, a sophomore from Grosse Pointe, was remembered by his friends as “a great friend” who was “loved by everyone.” Anderson, also from Grosse Pointe, was described as a “straight-A student” who wanted to become a doctor.
The Michigan State University community is mourning the loss of the three students, and a memorial service is being planned for the victims. The university is providing counseling services to students, faculty and staff affected by the tragedy.
