Michigan State Police have confirmed that the bodies found in an abandoned apartment building in the Detroit area on Thursday are those of three aspiring rappers who had been missing for nearly two weeks.
Lt. Mike Shaw of the Michigan State Police said human remains were found in the basement of the apartment complex in Highland Park, roughly 6 miles northwest of Detroit. The family of one of the missing men, 21-year-old Demarco Bennett, was notified of the discovery on Thursday.
Initially, officials could not begin collecting evidence or identifying the victims because of the weather, the condition of the building, and the amount of time that had passed since the men went missing. However, after further investigation, authorities were able to confirm the identities of the men.
The other two men were identified as 21-year-old Trevaughn Anthony and 19-year-old Darnell Kelly. The three men were last seen on April 22nd, and their families had been searching for them ever since.
The cause of death is still under investigation. Michigan State Police are asking anyone with information about the case to contact them.
