Seven people were killed and one seriously wounded in a mass shooting in Half Moon Bay, California, on Tuesday. According to San Mateo County Sheriff Christina Corpus, the shooting appears to have been an incident of workplace violence.

The suspect, 66-year-old Chunli Zhao, was believed to have been employed at Mountain Mushroom Farm, the first location where authorities found four people dead and one wounded. The second location, about a mile away, was also a mushroom farm where officials found three people dead.

The only known connection between the victims and the suspect is that they may have been coworkers, Sheriff Corpus said in a news conference Tuesday morning. San Mateo County Board of Supervisors President Dan Pine said one shooting unfolded at a mushroom farm and another near a trucking facility about two miles away.

The motive for the shooting is still under investigation. Sheriff Corpus said the suspect had an opportunity to hurt other people, but targeted individuals that he went after and pursued. The identities of the victims have not yet been released.
