A Washington court has unsealed search warrant documents used to retrieve evidence from the home and office of Bryan Kohberger, the 28-year-old accused of killing four University of Idaho students in November. The documents were made publicly available by Law & Crime Wednesday.
The search warrant revealed that investigators seized a variety of items from Kohberger’s apartment in Pullman, Washington, including a stained mattress cover, a computer tower, various receipts, the dust container from a “Bissell Power Force” vacuum cleaner, a “Fire TV” stick with a cord and plug, and a pillow with a “reddish/brown stain.”
Kohberger faces four counts of first-degree murder in the fatal stabbings of Kaylee Goncalves, 21; Madison Mogen, 21; Tristen Watson, 22; and Matthew Thomas, 22. The warrant was served Dec. 30, the day Kohberger was arrested at his family home in Pennsylvania.
According to court documents, the warrants and associated applications were sealed due to the sensitive nature of the investigation at the time. However, an extensive probable cause affidavit has been unsealed in Latah County, Idaho, which has alleviated the need for sealing of the Return of Service in Washington.
The investigation into the deaths of the four University of Idaho students is ongoing. The unsealed search warrant documents provide further insight into the evidence collected by investigators in the case.
