Michael Cohen Meets with Manhattan District Attorney’s Office, Signaling Intensification of Trump Organization Investigation

Michael Cohen, former personal attorney to ex-President Donald Trump, met with investigators from the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office on Tuesday, signaling that the years-long investigation into the Trump Organization may be picking up steam.

Cohen, who is often referred to as Trump’s “fixer,” was asked to meet with prosecutors by Alvin Bragg, the current District Attorney. This is the first time Cohen has met with investigators since Bragg took office more than a year ago.

Cohen’s attorney, Lanny Davis, said he believes prosecutors are “serious” about the investigation. Cohen himself said he was complying with a request to meet with prosecutors, but could not provide any further details about the topics he would be questioned about.

The meeting comes four days after two Trump Organization companies were sentenced to pay a combined $1.6 million penalty. It is unclear if this penalty is related to the investigation.

The Manhattan District Attorney’s Office has been investigating the Trump Organization for several years. It is looking into the hush-money payments made to adult film star Stormy Daniels, as well as other potential financial crimes.

The investigation has been ongoing for years, and the meeting between Cohen and the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office is the latest sign that prosecutors are taking the case seriously.
