Lisa Marie Presley’s Family Mourns Her Sudden Death After Cardiac Arrest

The family of Lisa Marie Presley is in shock and mourning after her sudden death on Thursday. Presley, the only child of rock icon Elvis Presley, was rushed to a hospital after experiencing cardiac arrest at her home in Calabasas, California.

In a statement to the Associated Press, Priscilla Presley, Lisa Marie’s mother, said, “It is with a heavy heart that I must share the devastating news that my beautiful daughter Lisa Marie has left us.”

A publicist for Priscilla Presley told CBS News in a statement, “Priscilla Presley and the Presley family are shocked and devastated by the tragic death of their beloved Lisa Marie.”

Hours before the announcement, Priscilla Presley said that her daughter had been rushed to the hospital. “She is now receiving the best care,” Prisilla Presley wrote on Facebook.

Deputies and Los Angeles County fire personnel went to a home in Calabasas late Thursday morning after they received a call about a woman not breathing, officials said.

The family thanked supporters for the love and prayers and asked for privacy during this difficult time. “They are profoundly grateful for the support, love and prayers of everyone, and ask for privacy during this very difficult time,” the statement said.
