Friday the 13th is usually considered an unlucky day, but this time it could be a lucky one for Mega Millions players. The Mega Millions jackpot has reached an estimated $1.35 billion, the second-largest in the lottery’s history, after no tickets matched all six winning numbers of 7, 13, 14, 15, 18 and the Mega Ball 9 in Tuesday night’s drawing.
The drawing for the $1.35 billion prize, roughly $707.9 million in cash, is scheduled for Friday night. While no ticket matched the jackpot drawing, 16 won the game’s second-tier prize taking home up to $3 million.
The $1.35 billion would be the second-largest Mega Millions grand prize ever and could grow as more and more people buy tickets for the Friday drawing. If won, it would be second only to a $1.537 billion Mega Millions jackpot won in South Carolina in 2018, the lottery said.
The Mega Millions lottery is played in 44 states, Washington, DC, and the US Virgin Islands. Players must pick five numbers from 1 to 70 and one Mega Ball number from 1 to 25. The odds of winning the jackpot are 1 in 302.5 million.
The Mega Millions jackpot is one of the largest in the world and has been growing since July 24, when a group of 11 co-workers in California won $543 million. The group opted for the cash option and took home $324.6 million before taxes.
The Mega Millions drawing will take place Friday night at 11 p.m. ET. Good luck to all the players!
