A 12-year-old girl is in custody after fatally stabbing her 9-year-old brother in Tulsa, Oklahoma, police said Friday.
The stabbing was reported just before midnight on Thursday at a residence in the St. Thomas Square community south of downtown Tulsa. According to a statement released by the Tulsa Police Department, officers arrived to find paramedics and firefighters already on the scene performing CPR on the 9-year-old male victim.
KJRH City firefighters and emergency medical technicians from a contract ambulance service administered CPR before the boy was rushed to a hospital. However, the boy succumbed to his injuries shortly after 2:30 a.m.
Officers learned the children’s parent was upstairs asleep when the 12-year-old daughter woke the parent up and said that she had stabbed her 9-year-old brother. The 12-year-old suspect was taken into custody at a juvenile facility.
The Tulsa Police Department is continuing to investigate the incident. No further information has been released at this time.
