California is bracing for a major storm system that is expected to bring heavy rain, snow, and flooding across a wide swath of the state from Los Angeles to the Oregon border. In response, California Governor Gavin Newsom declared a state of emergency on Wednesday.
The storm has already caused damage in some areas, with Sacramento experiencing flooding and the recovery of a second body near a submerged vehicle. Leland Schneider of the Cosumnes River Levee District warned that further flooding could cause serious trouble.
Roads throughout Northern California are flooding, leading to fears of landslides and power outages. Some areas could receive up to 10 inches of rain in the next day or so. State officials have issued a warning to residents to stay off the roads and take necessary precautions.
The storm is expected to cause further damage in the coming days, and state officials are urging residents to remain vigilant and take all necessary safety measures.
