Apple announced Wednesday that it will raise the price of battery replacements for all out-of-warranty iPhone models prior to the current iPhone 14 lineup. Starting March 1, customers will have to pay $89 for a new battery for iPhone X through iPhone 13 models, a $20 increase from the current price.
Replacements for iPhone 8, 7, 6, 5 and SE devices will cost $69, up from $49. Battery replacements for other models, such as the iPad, MacBook Air and MacBook Pro, will also see an increase in price. The iPad will cost an extra $20, the MacBook Air an extra $30 and the MacBook Pro an extra $50.
The batteries on iPhone 14 models, which were released in 2022, are still under Apple’s default one-year warranty. Customers who are not part of AppleCare+ will have to pay the increased prices for battery replacements.
Apple did not provide an explanation for the price hike, but the company is known to adjust prices for its products and services from time to time. The new prices will take effect on March 1, 2021.
