Ground Crew Worker Killed in Engine Accident at Montgomery Regional Airport

A tragic accident occurred at Montgomery Regional Airport in Alabama on Saturday when a ground crew worker was killed after being sucked into the engine of a parked plane.

The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) reported that the aircraft, an Embraer 170 operated by regional carrier Envoy Air, was parked at the gate with its engine running after arriving from Dallas. The worker, whose name has not been released, was “ingested into the engine” of the plane.

Wade A. Davis, the airport’s executive director, expressed his condolences in a statement. “We are saddened to hear about the tragic loss of a team member of the AA/Piedmont Airlines. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family during this difficult time.”

American Airlines, which owns Envoy Air, also released a statement expressing their condolences. “We are devastated by the accident involving a team member. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family and our local team.”

The NTSB is currently investigating the incident and has not yet released any further information. The cause of the accident is still unknown.
