The Buffalo Bills and Cincinnati Bengals were in the middle of their Monday Night Football game when tragedy struck. Buffalo Bills safety Damar Hamlin collapsed on the field after making a tackle on Bengals wide receiver Tee Higgins. His teammates could be seen crying and praying as they gathered around him on the field.
An ambulance was brought onto the field and Hamlin was taken away to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center for further testing and treatment. The Bills released a statement early Tuesday morning saying that Hamlin had suffered cardiac arrest.
The game was temporarily suspended until further notice following the incident. In the wake of the incident, there have been increasing calls for the NFL to formally suspend the game.
The 24-year-old safety is currently in critical condition at the UC Medical Center. The Bills have asked for privacy and prayers for Hamlin and his family during this difficult time.
